LADIES‘ SHAVE - kennst Du die Geschichte der Damenrasur?

LADIES' SHAVE - do you know the history of women's shaving?

Until the 1980s, German women generally did not shave. Women allowed their natural body hair to grow freely. Having smooth legs and hairless armpits was reserved for French and American film actresses.

Today, removing body hair is part of the ideal of beauty for women. Even young girls find it completely normal to shave their legs , bikini area and armpits regularly.

This was not always the case.

Until the 1980s, German women generally did not shave. Women allowed their natural body hair to grow freely. Having smooth legs and hairless armpits was reserved for French and American film actresses. Even the popular singer Nena ("99 Luftballons") made headlines in the tabloid press in 1985 because of her unshaven armpit hair .

By the 1990s at the latest, this changed fundamentally, and for reasons of aesthetics and hygiene, it became absolutely taboo to appear unshaven in public, especially in summer.
We have various methods available for hair removal:

· wet shaving
· Dry shave
· Epilation
· Laser hair removal
· Waxing
· Hair removal cream.

Advertising makes us believe that each of these methods is the best and safest and gives the smoothest skin. So every girl and woman has to find out for herself which method of hair removal she prefers. Each method has advantages and disadvantages. Some are expensive and/or time-consuming, others are painful, irritate the skin or do not last long.
Razors have even been developed specifically for women . Those for wet shaving are pastel-colored, which suggests a gentle shave for our delicate skin, which is so different from the rough skin of men's faces. Of course, that's nonsense! The shaving experience and shaving result are the same, or the " men's razors " sometimes even shave more thoroughly and smoothly. But the women's razors are more expensive. The Americans call this higher price the " pink tax ."

The women's razors are a good marketing idea, but we ladies can safely use the normal wet razors without any harm.

Skin irritation after wet shaving? A common reason for this is blades that have been used too often and that scratch more than they cut. For perfectly smooth skin, razor blades have to be really sharp, which means they should be replaced as often as possible. For women, it is recommended that you replace the blades after about 5 uses. Assuming you shave every two days, this means you use 3 replacement heads or 3 disposable razors per month! We are happy to avoid the costs involved and would rather risk a bad shave and lots of little red spots.

The SHAVENT team has developed a plastic-free razor for wet shaving that can be used by women and men, girls and boys, and everyone else alike, for a smooth shaving result with a gentle and safe shave of any type of body hair.

The blades used are available in packs of 100, which are very inexpensive and allow you to change blades frequently. And you don't have to feel guilty, because only sorted, recyclable metal waste is produced in minimal quantities.
